UT Petroleum?

I'm from NY and applied to Cockrell as a petroleum major, not really expecting to get in.
However, I'm currently enrolled in college, and I'm wondering if that will boost my chance.

I did not send any SAT scores, only ACT (32 overall, 31 math 34 reading 34 science)
I have at least a 4.0 GPA (school ranks out of 100, unweighted is 96 or 97 something)
I was in honors math and science (school does not offer Physics C unfortunately)
I'm ranked 6 out of 302, so the top 2% of my school.

I'm at a SUNY school part time. I took College Comp, Macro and Calc I first semester and ended with a 4.0
Next semester I'll be enrolled in Calc II, Chem I and another English class for a grad requirement.

Texas did not want the SUNY transcript though, and it was also not available by the Dec 1 deadline.

Anyways, will me being enrolled in college help at all? I doubt I have a large chance to get in if not. My other choice is Colorado School of Mines, though I find Texas more appealing because its much easier to dual major or pick out a minor (mines doesn't have many, if any, summer or winter classes as far as I can tell).

Oh, and how hard is it to transfer in as a sophomore relative to freshman admissions?

You pretty much need a 4.0 to get into Petroleum, and even then that doesn’t guarantee you’ll get accepted.
Make sure you have strong essays. They also look at the classes you have taken to see if you have a 4.0 of b.s classes or a 4.0 in classes that count. I transferred into UT PGE last year and they only took around 110 people from which only like 16 of us were transfer students.

Jandres22, I currently am applying to UT - Autsin for Petroleum. Is there anything I could do to make my application more competitive. I have a 4.0 and some outstanding ECs related to petroleum. What did the 16 transfer students all have in common?

I took all of the honors/AP classes in math & science & history, just not English. I have a 100 in AP physics right now but it’s not like they’ll see that because I was never asked for a mid year report …

Although, one question. If I’m accepted for my second major (mechanical), how hard would it be to transfer over into petroleum? Because I wouldn’t want to go if I have virtually no chance.
