i found the tone of the 1st article to be incredibly condescending-the line about Canada being like "an infatuated teenager" couldn't be further from the truth. contrarily, Canadians consider the US to be our "closest friend and ally" because our geographic proximity, for the fact that it obviously pays to have a close relationship with the world's only superpower, and because they are indeed our largest trade partner. also, in my experience the average Canadian dislikes rather than adores Americans based on the fact that, as the 2nd article suggested, as a general but not all-encompassing rule, they are incredibly ignorant of Canadian history, culture and life. as a dual citizen of both Canada and the United States, i have spent a LOT of time defending Americans rather than deflecting signs of "infatuation" with my citizenship, lol.

I'm not really sure what you are trying to prove leyton_reynolds. This only reinforces my believe of Americans being ignorant to any other culture but their own. And I stand by what I say; we shoud not cater down to this ignorance by going to "the only recognized Canadian University".
katiebee - I agree with you. Most of my Canadian friends hate the US mostly because of their ignorance. I have to hide the fact I was born in the States, mostly because I'm ashamed of it myself.

Hi

I agree that the comments of the McGill supporter are ignorant. I'm sorry to tell him that I am a Canadian teaching in a top 10 US business school and at least in my area economics/business McGill is not considered a top tier university. There are basically four that are considered good. U of T, Western, Queen's and UBC. U of T is probably best in economics and Western (Ivey) best in Business.

I'm sure McGill is good in some areas, but in mine it is not, period.

york is best at business

in my opinion, Magill and U of T are the only two universities that americans have heard of.

How is the University of Guelph? My daughter received information from this school
My daughter hasn't taken her ACT yet. She is an LD student with average to good grades.
My daughter is Mexican we live in Chicago, IL would she have a hard time fitting in Canada? I would hope not, given how Canada appreciates diversity and she wouldn't be accused of getting in just because of affirmation action.

I am American I am not ignorant of Canadian Culture. I actually admire Canadian culture because their respect of diversity.

As an American would she have a hard time finding a job in the US with a degree from the University of Guelph or other Canadian Universities? Are Canadian Universities more LD friendly than US institutions?

Lol, I'm thinking about trying to apply to those schools. Well, I personally want to go to UT since it's the biggest and, if I heard it correctly, the oldest. However, since McGill and UT are the best out of the four, I think it's important that you choose depending on which campus u like better. Good luck!
