Currently I am enrolled at houston community college (in Houston Tx obviously), and I am in the midst of receiving my certificate of completion for automotive repair. It has been 2 years since i graduated highschool and i already racked up almost 60 credits, but they are all in a vocational (work-based) field.

Now i am im in sort of the transition phase where im gettin my last auto class done, and im starting to take classes that apply towards transfer to UT or A&M: mechanical engineering. at first i was convinced i didnt have a chance at UT, but the more research i do, there is no way in living hell i can end up in college station:texas A&M. (dont take it personally, but i was raised on the west coast, far away from the conservative bible thumpers who love der big trucks), and i find it really important to graduate college in the same town i plan on starting a career in: AUSTIN.

Now that i made it clear where i have set my mind to, i am willing to do what ever it takes to get accepted. I had an "ok" gpa in highschool, a "b" student i was, until i graduated. Since then, iv maintained a 4.0 and i plan on keeping it up in the 3.6-4.0 range for the next year or so while i gain UT-cochrell (mechanical engineering) related courses.

Now, i know you want to say: stay in houston and get your transferable credits there, before applying. Sadly that is not an option, i have to move out of my parents house, and i was planning on transferring to Austin community college.

would it be reasonable to move to austin next fall and attend the community college to get credits and transfer into UT that way? i really dont find staying in houston an option at all.

like i said, I am willing to do what it will take to get accepted into the mechanical engineering field at UT. I was first planning on moving to college station next fall, but that is probably not going to happen, they just arent my sort of people, not my sort of town- i want to be comfortable where i live- i value that, just as much as i value my education.

Any insight would be MUCH appreciated, Thank you.
