Utd admission

I had a hoghschool gpa of 3.29 and act score of 23 so I have a chance at utd?

I think you have a good chance. What is your class rank? The higher your rank the better your chances. You are a few points short of the automatic acceptance number for the ACT. Write a good essay and I do think you will be accepted.

My rank was around 600 out of 1200 students (50%)

Wow - big school. I just looked at UTD’s common data set and for last year, a 25 ACT score was the 25th percentile. You have a chance but if you could retake the ACT and increase to 26, you would be guaranteed. I don’t know what you are planning on studying but UT Arlington’s 25th percentile is 20. You would have a much better chance getting accepted there.

I m sorry I forgot to mention this to you. I am a transfer student I am currently a freshman going to community college and want to transfer in spring of 2017 I have completed 12 hours with gpa of 3.75 and I am currently doing 18 hours which are in progrsss. They don’t look at act/highschool after 30 hours but I technically count as 12 hours because I haven’t completed the other 18. So now would u say that I have a good chance with this college gpa and the act score of 23?

Yes, I do think that increases your chances. It shows that you are capable of doing college level work. Also, because you have completed 12 hours, you can join Comet Connection now. I think that would also improve your chances. It gives you advising and definitely shows your interest in the school. Another option is to go thru the spring at CC, get 42 hours with that high GPA and you would be an automatic acceptance.

I have already joined the comet connection. I dont want to do another semester at CC. I got denied the first time because my act score was a 20 but now i improved to a 23 with good college gpa.

Everything that you have done has definitely increased your chances. You might want to take the ACT one more time to see if you could get another point or 2, if not keep your GPA up and apply. I do think you have a good shot with everything that you have done.

I just realized you probably have no time to take the ACT again. I’m thinking your application is due Oct 1st, if so go for it. Please let me know, hopefully, UTD rewards your effort.

I just took the act this month and I improved 3 points from a 20 to 23, the application isn’t due till end of November for transfer students, but I don’t think I will take the act again because I don’t have time because midterms are coming close for college plus I am taking Max hours

Again, good luck! I think you deserve to be admitted, my personal opinion. Hopefully, they feel the same way.

Thanks for the help

My counselor from utd got back to me saying that my act scores wont help that much because they want me to submit my fall transcript. Do you know what the average gpa for acceptance is if you completed 30 hours?

No, I don’t and I have never seen that stat. The auto acceptance at 42 hours requires a 2.7 GPA. At 3.75, you are way above it. Just keep those grades up above 3.5 and that should be good. I’ve seen transfer students get into UT Austin with that GPA .

Could you ask the counselor what GPA is necessary?

They usually want students to transfer after 30 hours, I think you need a gpa of 3.0 at minimum

You might ask this question on the reddit board. There are many more students that might have a better answer for you.

He’s already asked this same question several times and on various boards. He keeps searching for some sort of miracle answer.

So here it is: Yes, you will be accepted. At some point. Stop worrying about it and concentrate on what you can control - making sure you get good grades for those 18 credits you’re taking. Or call an admission advisor and ask what you can do to improve your chances.
