To people who have already gone through the bs/md process, how would you say is the best way to utilize your summers in high school?

Research programs or any free summer program is always a good idea, aside from that go for the regular ECs of volunteering, research, and shadowing.

Though research/volunteering/shadowing are important, don’t feel as though that’s all you can spend your summers doing. Out of the three summers relevant to my application (before sophomore, junior, and senior years), I only spent one of them doing medically-related work. The other two were spent pursuing other passions of mine.

Basically, don’t waste your time. Do something that you’re interested in. Don’t feel the need to pigeonhole yourself right now into doing only one thing with your time.
