UTSA CAP Program or Trinity?

Hey guys! I’ve just heard back from all of my colleges and have narrowed it down to 2 options- the UT CAP program at UTSA (I’ve done the cap agreement for that school so I’m guaranteed a spot if I choose) or Trinity University. UT Austin has always been my top pick and I know the CAP requirement of a 3.2 GPA is very doable. I plan on double majoring in Environmental Science (in the CNS, I know) and French (in COLA). I already have a secured spot in Trinity’s class of 2022 with a pretty significant scholarship. It’s a great school and I’ve heard wonderful things about it, but ultimately I think I would be happier at UT Austin- I’m just not sure if the hassle of transferring is academically or socially the best option. I also don’t know if I could handle a year at UTSA given the party scene sans a strong academic environment lol. I like partying but I also like doing well in classes/feeling productive. Socially I’m kind of an introvert but also really into the art scene/weirdness that Austin offers mostly because of UT. With all of this in mind, I would love to hear some of your opinions on this. I would also love to hear some accounts of people who went through/are currently going through the CAP program or Trinity. Thanks so much! I’ll answer any questions you have- I just want some honest, unbiased feedback.

One is a big state flagship while the other is a small LAC.Both are great schools but they offer totally a totally different college experience. It really boils down to which school you feel more comfortable with. I have never known for UTSA to be a big party school. UT certainly is. CAP students are not offered any type of scholarships so you have factor that into the decision. It’s really hard to answer your question because the schools are so different.

I went to UTSA. It’s actually a super friendly school with a lot of school spirit. You’ll be surprised how many CAP students decide to stay there instead of transferring to Austin. It’s part commuter school, so a decent portion of the student body are more mature, which does a good job to discourage partying. The rest are traditional students, which keeps school spirit strong. Oh yeah, you’re 5 minutes from 6 Flags!
