I’m a grade 11 student in Canada looking at universities to apply to (we have to go to open houses really soon, so I have to start thinking of places I wanted to apply to). University of Toronto Scarborough has a program that’s a BA in Studio and it sounds really interesting. I was just wondering, does anyone know what UTSC is like? ^-^’ In terms of atmosphere, residence, admissions, etc… I’ve heard mixed reviews (although a lot have to do with academic prestige and I don’t really care about that, as long as the program is taught well), so I was just wondering if anyone has experience with it. Thank you!
UTSC has traditionally been a commuter school. There is little to no atmosphere. Admissions is not difficult. I recommend you visit before applying.
Have you looked at OCAD? OCAD is where the more serious art students go and it’s in a much better location.
I have looked into OCAD! It would be perfect if it weren’t for the fact that it doesn’t have residences on campus to my knowledge. I don’t take really well to changes and get stressed easily, so I feel like it might be easier to have a really close-together environment (with dorms on campus and what not), which may also be safer. I’m not really sure what the alternative residence options would be for OCAD.
This website gives your housing options for OCAD http://www.ocadu.ca/services/campus-life/housing-information.htm The Neill-Wycik Co-op has a good reputation and may be what you’re looking for. It’s essentially a student dorm, but not affiliated with one of the universities.
