For those of you who are attending/will be attending UVA, do you have any knowledge of UVA’s biology department, or its science programs in general? I really liked the atmosphere of the university when I visited and I know it has a good reputation in academics overall but don’t know much about its biology programs. How would you rate its faculty/courses?
Thanks!
I can comment on the sciences as I was a Biochem major.
The UVa bio program is very strong is preparing people for med/dent/graduate school if that is what you are looking for.
There’s lots of research at Gilmer (the bio/psych building) you can get involved in. There’s also research at the med school.
The courses in the sciences are tough, but very very enjoyable. You’ll definitely learn a lot.
Good luck with your decision!
@sciencenerd Thanks alot for your input! I really appreciate it!
Does anyone have any experience with conputational biology/bioinformatics as an undergrad at UVA?
