If cost was not a factor, which would you choose and why?

This is for someone who might want to major in business or history/international relations/foreign affairs.

Thanks.

Both are excellent but WashU allows a lot more flexibility in double-majoring, has better living arrangements, food, stronger and more liberal student body.
For history/international relations/foreign affairs UVA would be a better choice if that is what you want to do.

You need to visit, they feel very different.

I'd say UVa has an edge in both those areas and more school spirit.

UVirginia has a much bigger Greek scene as well as sports scene. WashU more intellectual and St Louis is a cool city.

I have always had the impression that Virginia is more prestigous than WashU. I think this was confimed when I applied to both and was rejected by Virginia and accepted by WashU.

Pick UVA :p

I heard that WashU is not in the best of locations. Plus UVA has some of that sport atomsphere too

What things are important to you, other than major?

Your acceptance or rejection is no indicator of prestige.

WashU is in a really great neighborhood adjacent to Forest Park. St. Louis is the greatest sports city in USA. Esp for baseball.

of the things you listed as possible majors, UVa is likely going to serve you better than washu. regardless of rankings, i would venture to say that most people think uva is at least on par, if not better than washu.
