Having a lot of trouble choosing which one to apply EA/ED for in the fall. I would seriously appreciate your input. I like UVA better socially/atmosphere-wise, but I like certain aspects of Wellesley too. I am hoping to work at a top-tier investment bank post-graduation and double major in economics and philosophy. Which school would increase my chances of getting picked up by a top investment bank on Wall Street? I already have IB experience. Thanks so so much.
UVA is early action, which means the decision is non-binding for the applicant. Wellesley has two rounds of ED. You can probably apply to both and see what happens.
UVA McIntire has strong Wall St. connections, but students are admitted sophomore year. However, Lulu Chow-Wang (and Michelle Caruso-Cabrera) indicates that Wellesley alums also do just fine in I-banking.
I think either will be fine. You can always apply RD to Wellesley and EA or RD to UVA, then decide when results are back in April.
Investment banking jobs for undergraduates are few and far between. IMO you should go to the school where you feel you would be happiest and then see how things play out.
Thanks everyone. I’m not as interested in the admissions plans, more just which one will give me the most I-banking opportunities. I know it’s insanely competitive, but do either of these schools boast a decent chance of getting onto Wall Street?
I see your comment about the admissions plans, but you should know about Wellesley’s Early Evaluation that is non binding. I was an Econ major there and took a few philosophy classes. Amazing departments but I didn’t pursue I-banking.
