Thoughts on why you received that decision: I was shocked. Still kinda am. But according to a UVA newsletter there was a big push for minority applicants this year (40% of admitted students this year are minorities). With my GPA and SAT/ACT scores I never even considered UVA a realistic possibility; however, I feel like my essays especially added strength to my application, and I had an unusual circumstance that I could talk about (hour & a half commute to school daily). Very thankful that I was talked into applying!

Thoughts on why you received that decision: I believe that I was likely rejected because of a combination of my GPA and SAT not being high enough to justify admission as an out of stater, as well as a possible weakness with extra curricular activities.
