National University Rankings | Top National Universities | US News Best Colleges

Yes, I know that people should not place too much emphasis on these rankings. However, it is nice to see that UVa has maintained its place in the top 25 National Universities in the updated US News rankings. UVa is tied with several other universities for 23rd place.

One of the many factors that affect the rankings is the percentage of alums who donate each year. If any alums out that are not making at least a modest donation each year, please start.

Are you seriously shilling for money on this site to up your school’s ranking?

Very few UVa alums paid anything close to the full price of their education. It is only right to try to pay some of that subsidy back, so that the U. is affordable for future students. If, in the process, it helps UVa rise again above Berkeley in the ratings, all the better.

Your non-ratings argument for alumni giving is admirable, but disingenuous, since you didn’t state it outright.

I give back not so the U is affordable for others, but so that what they get is a top-notch education. That kind of spending has more to do with rankings than giving back for affordability
