We did not do any ED applications for S, aren’t doing any for D, and we will see about last D. S also didn’t do any EA but some were rolling and I think almost everybody was before April. DD is doing all early or rolling except two which will be regular but say decision will be out before March 15. Neither of my older two had a favorite. We will see about last one.

Bear in mind that while TYPICALLY applying ED improves one’s chances of acceptance, that’s not always the case for EA. For example, Boston College clearly states that their EA applicant pool is MORE COMPETITIVE than their RD. It’ll be interesting to see if UVa’s acceptance rates for EA applicants are slightly higher, the same, or lower than RD. My guess will be slightly higher for OOS students who pay more than IS, but that’s pure conjecture on my part. Some schools (Vandy, I think) also state that they do not defer candidates from ED (or EA) to RD; rather, they simply reject them or accept them. Will UVa utilize deferment?

^^^ I hope UVA does not defer EA applicants. See post #2 about the U of Michigan process…

I’m knee deep in this cycle and I don’t have every single detail about the next. However, I believe we will admit, defer, and deny during the EA cycle next year.

In our ED days, there were times when we definitely wanted to see the mid-year grade report before making final decision and I imagine that will be the case next year. We hope that those will come to us in late January, but they sometimes arrive in February.

I’m not going to lie. I’ve been stressing SO SO much about UVA lately. If the college had EA I would be done come Nov 15 (if I got in). Schools who have EA relieve so much of a student’s stress. If UVA had EA this year, I couldn’t even begin to explain the relief I would be feeling. W/E just going to be stressed out until April 1st.

im so upset this happens a year after i’m applying! i would love to have this now and not have to wait until april
