UVA vs Vanderbilt

That’s likely, so are legacies and Vandy has some great scholarships that are merit based (one of the very few schools where these free rides aren’t based on income. ) So you are going to get top kids applying for this reason. UVA also has a handful of free ride scholarships ( based on being nominated). So does UNC. In some cases, there is overlap of the same applicants to these schools (which I think are similar in some respects). Often/sometimes kids are in both pools as they are super high stats and also leaders/athletes or both who are looking for merit. It’s a tough group to compete in.

Yep, 1530 is pretty standard stuff for Vandy. According to my kids I am bonkers. So there is that. But our GC was correct. The only kids who did get into Vandy in '22 had the scores she mentioned and high grades and rigor. The school is small so data set isn’t a good one. But the GC hit the nose on most projections which was hard to do in 2022. I don’t think things will be different in '23. With TO, kids aren’t going to submit scores unless they are strong and more kids are applying to 10+ schools than ever before. What a crazy time for kids ( and their parents).

My kids have no experience with Vandy’s political science major, but the education major at Vanderbilt’s Peabody College is first-rate and your D might want to investigate the H.O.D. major at Peabody and that major’s career placement. My 2nd D almost majored in H.O.D., but ended up:
Major: Psychology
Minor: Business
Minor: Scientific Computing

If you have questions about both my daughters paths through Vandy, happy to help. Just ask.
