UVa vs. WashU (w/full tuition)

I finally decided on WashU but have recently started to reconsider UVa. I would like to study IR and polisci - something that would prepare me well for both foreign service or American politics. At WashU, I have full tuition and a stipend whereas at UVa, I will be paying 23,000 the first year and if I move back home the second, 16,000. I am close to my family and siblings so UVa would be close though I'm not sure if that would prevent me from fully immersing myself in my school. I would like to attend law school or go into the Peace Corps if that's relevent. Do students at WashU go immediately to law school or do they work for years to build a resume? What schools are students in this year's class going to?

Also, I would love to do student government, community service, habitat, inter-faith work while I'm in college. Do either have striking clubs/opportunities or are known for their activism? I'm also South Asian (pakistani) so do either have strong support groups for that?

I apologize for the long post and thank anyone in advance who can share their advice. I am SO confused right now and would really appreciate it.

I definitely think you should go to WashU. It is a highly regarded school, and I think you should attend the place that is cheapest (especially since you want to go to grad school).

ur so llucky.

i wanted to go to washu really badly but got deferred then rejjjjjjjjjecccccted.

and u got a full ride. wow just wow.

Economically, WashU is better of course, since it’s free.

Educationally, if you go strictly by rankings, WashU is better than UVa. Numbers don’t really mean anything though, and I would say UVa is almost par with WashU. Visit both, and see which one “fits” more for you. I know that’s a generic response, but that’s pretty much the only thing you can do.

no question. Wash U.

Washu. undoubtedly.
