I recently got accepted into UVA and William and Mary and I would like to know which one is better for a pre-med student. Which one has the better research opportunities, volunteering opportunities, professors, advising, etc?
Does either have a problem with GPA deflation, or an unmanageable workload for pre-med students (probably majoring in a biology field)?
Which one has a better acceptance rate into good med schools?
Thanks for your help!
Both are excellent choices, premed courses are mostly basic science classes that any one of two will provide more than adequately. The choice will be personal, not academic.
I think I’ve responded to this one elsewhere. artloversplus is right in that both schools will prepare you well (and have produced lots of doctors), so this should not be the deciding factor. I am not a doctor but have a number of friends who went through this. Regardless of where you go, you will need to have very good grades and very good MCATs, so go to a place where you are comfortable and will thrive and do well.
I have heard some people say that some schools are “cutthroat” in that students try to weed each other out and the school takes actions that do as well. I don’t think this is applies to either of these schools.
