Here I meet a delima, I got offer from Master of Architecture, pre-professional in both UVA and WUSTL. I know the academic reputation of UVA is somehow higher, and the tuition is cheaper, while WUSTL has a higher rank in USNEWS(rank 12). Therefore, I feel difficult to choose from them. Who can give me a favor to provide some advices? Thanks very much.

You honestly shouldn’t be paying much attention to rank (and from the USNEWS, no less). What are you looking for in a program? Have you visited these schools? I’m less familiar with WUSTL than I am with UVA, but at least both schools have greater crossover than, say, UVA and Columbia. UVA is really pushing sus. design, and isn’t that digitally oriented. WUSTL is slowly getting rid of its old guard professors and bringing in young(er) architects with fresh ideas. I’m not sure how much physical building goes on @ WUSTL, but UVA does its share of DesBuild.
If you haven’t yet and you have the time and money to do so, I’d really advise you to visit these schools, talk to the students and professors.

I am really appreciated with your explanation that does not emphasis the USNEWS rank. To tell you the truth, I incline UVA a litter more for its sus. design program which is what I am actully seeking for. Thank you very much.

UVA’s graduate program in architecture is very, very respected. I don’t know much about WUSTL, but I don’t think you can go wrong with UVA. Good luck!

Thanks for your suggestion, here I want to get more information about UVA, could you tell me something about the academic reputation of its graduate program as well as job opportunity?
