Hey!
I'm a virginian and I really want to go to Uva. I am still a freshman and i would like to know anything helpful. Such as Gpa, Sat scores, EC's etc. like what they look upon as good and what are required[I am a good singer and soccer player should i invest futher in either?]. I know this is naive but could someone also explain Sat and Sat 2's [sorry]?

So many things wrong here...

?...................?

You are a freshman...stop worrying about college apps, since you won't encounter them for another 3 years. If you are really concerned, all we can tell you to do is take the hardest classes, get all As, get perfect test scores, and hope for the best. Plus, there is no better place to look for information about SATs than the college board website. Pretty much, stop worrying about this stuff...

Also, get a new user name. That's way too presumptuous.

It's not too soon to start thinking about this. I remember our GC's saying it was too soon when we asked in 9th grade for class rankings, but before you know it by the end of 10th grade, you are pretty much locked into your range.

They are right, take the toughest courses (make sure you take courses that interest you, but always shoot for Honors courses if they have them), take the SAT II's as soon as you finish your courses so you don't have to review (like Bio and Chem). Take the SAT I prep courses available from your school but don't waste too much time and money on them. Just get comfortable with the test format. And partake and enjoy your EC's - they are important. Sing in the chorus, sing in a community group, better yet, form a group to sing at nursing homes, as you'll need some service hours as well, and you'll get extra points for forming the group (do it through school if possible). Play soccer - you'll need a physical outlet with all that studying. But also, enjoy life - and if UVA is right for you, you'll end up there - if it's not, you'll end up somewhere that you fit better.

Forgot to answer your SAT question.
SAT I is the aptitude tests (mostly IQ type math and vocabulary with writing skills thrown in) that you take late Junior year or early Senior year (or both).
SAT II's are subject tests that you can take after you finish the appropriate courses. But make sure you are well prepared for the subject tests as you can't cancel the scores after you get them (but if you know you bombed it, you have a week or so to ask it not to be scored).

this is what you need to do.

Stop, dont touch, leave the area, and tell an adult (if anyone caught that reference they win the internet)

your a freshman, have fun, get acquainted with high school, be in fun EC's that you really like, take tough classes and get A's. Simple. Besides, your in state so you dont have nearly as much to worry about as someone who is out of state.

Well, I suppose gun saftey might be relevant - of course, it would depend on the EC.

I'll take my prize, but is it a truck or a series of tubes?

tubez

I wasn't meaning that she needs gun safety though, just that she should stop what she is doing and leave asking questions about getting into schools alone

UVA isn't very difficult to get into if you're instate. Finish in the top 5-10% of your HS class, get a 1350+ SAT score, do a couple of ECs, and you'll get in.

thanks <3.
