UW Application Status

I sent in my application for UW-Seattle and UW-Bothell on November 23,2009. When I check my application status for UW-Seattle on MyUW it says:

Your application is awaiting an initial review.

and for UW-Bothell it says:

All materials required to review your application to the UW Bothell have been received and your file is now complete. Your application is in the review process, and will remain in this status until decisions become available. When a decision is made, you will be notified via postal mail.

My question is how long does it take for the status to change and how do I know when I get accepted. I read somewhere on CC a while ago that you can actually tell that you've been accepted or denied before you receive your acceptance letter by checking somewhere on MyUW. How do I do that?

Thank you!

Here are my stats if it has anything to do with the time it takes for my application status to change.

I spent a long time to make my essays on the UW application perfect.

When I was accepted, I got my letter before my status updated, but I don’t know if that was normal. I was accepted in late december, while most people were accepted in march/april.

Have a Feb 1st deadline to submit a dorm contract to U Wisc, BUT want to wait to hear from U Wash before doing so. What are the chances of hearing from U Wash Seattle before then. All U Wash app materials received mid -November. Would hate to let housing at U Wisc go only to get rejected from U Wash after Feb 1.

I don’t recall how long between updates mine took, but there’s a final message that they put on there like “your application has been reviewed, we will notify you by postal mail with a decision” or something like that. When you see that message you can check your unofficial transcript on myuw and if it loads, you’re in. About a week after they first update your status online you should get your acceptance (or denial) in the mail.

Well I received a decision from my first college (even though it is the backup of my backup of my backup). I applied on 11/23 and was accepted on 11/30.

On my status report it now says, “Your application to the UW Bothell has been reviewed. All applicants are informed of admission decisions by mail when results of the review process become available.” My unofficial transcript for UW-Bothell also came up so I know I got in.

I’m still waiting for UW-Seattle to move to step two of the application process.

Mine says:

"We have reviewed your application. We will inform you by postal mail when a decision is made. "

Unofficial transcript loaded.

Is this good or bad?

^definitely good.

Good. I actually did some research and found out UW is an excellent school. It’s ranked very high.

My son’s status changed today to “We reviewed your application. We will inform you by postal mail when a decision is made.” But no sign of an unofficial transcript button or link on the student tab page. Bad news? Tame lag or rejection? Can someone post a print screen of where to look for an unofficial transcript link in their myUW?

Maybe they haven’t reviewed your son’s application yet. Also I was wondering when he applied and when did his application status change.

Thanks and good luck!

The application was submitted mid-October. The last ACT test was received by them on November 15ish. Around December 3rd it said, “We have received all materials required to review your application. Your application will remain in this status until decisions are finalized. We will inform you by postal mail when a decision is made.” And yesterday or today, December 9/10, it said, “We have reviewed your application. We will inform you by postal mail when a decision is made.”

No transcript button, though. I am confused because some people click on unofficial transcript and it doesn’t load, other click on the link and it loads. But what happens when there is no link to click on?

I had to add the content I needed to the ‘my front page’ on the website.

When you log in it takes you to the ‘my front page’ and directly below the purple banner you will see ‘add content’ and ‘reset content’ buttons. Click on the ‘add content’ and add ‘student personal services’. The unofficial transcript button everyone is talking about is part of the ‘student personal services’ package.

Good luck!

Thanks. When I added the student services content, the unofficial transcript link appeared. And it gives a major, and says FRESHMAN. So, I hope that means my son was accepted.

I wish my parents cared that much about the whole college application process.

I’m getting antsy. I get to hear about my ED application either within the next few days, Tuesday at the latest. Reading all the threads concerning UW, I guess I should be expecting a letter within the next week or so (hopefully)?

Just curious, who in here isn’t from Washington state? It seems like a majority of UW applicants come from northwestern Washington (I’m from the south central area where UW haters/WSU grads are aplenty).

And is UW like considered within the same league as UCLA and UC Berkeley? I know those are excellent schools that has lower admission rates…

Our family lives in Pullman (home of the cougars)! Though hubby and I are UW alums. Our oldest two are in college - one at UW and one at WSU. Youngest (a senior) wants to go to UW! She has the stats to get in, all comes down to essays and some good karma.

We are definitely a house divided!

My friend from my school turned in their app on the same day as me (11/22), and JUST got accepted.

Coincidentally, my UW status JUST changed a few hours ago to ‘We have received all materials required to review your application. Your application will remain in this status until decisions are finalized. We will inform you by postal mail when a decision is made.’

Hopefully I get my letter soon!

So you skipped a few steps.

Eh, maybe not.

“And is UW like considered within the same league as UCLA and UC Berkeley? I know those are excellent schools that has lower admission rates…”

Maybe not quite at that level, but UW is certainly a very respectable school and one of the “public ivies”. It’s ranked very highly in a number of different rankings.

So my application status finally changed today on MyUW. It now says, "We have received all materials required to review your application. Your application will remain in this status until decisions are finalized. We will inform you by postal mail when a decision is made. " So that’s 22 days since the first update. Hope I get a decision before Winter Break. Good luck to everyone that is applying as well.
