UW-Madison or UCSD for biology?

Hey guys im planning to transfer either one of those universitys and i wonder which one would be better for molecular biology major. By the way, Im currently going to a cc in San Diego. Your comments are really so important. Thanks.

P.S: I am going to be able to transfer to UW-Madison next fall but i have to wait until 2013 for UCSD.

Any difference in cost? I think they are both great.

im a cali resident. however i have 2 more years to be eligible for ucsd and i dont wanna go to cc anymore; so ucsd would be less expensive until i (hopefully) get wi residency.

Biology does not have that great job and career prospects at the bachelor’s degree level.

If you are a pre-med (which does not require majoring in biology, just taking the pre-med courses), be aware that if you do manage to get admitted to medical school (most pre-meds do not), medical school is very expensive.

So consider avoiding or minimizing student loans to be important in selecting which school to go to.

Good news / bad news:

Good news:

“Employment of biological scientists is projected to grow 21 percent over the 2008—18 decade, much faster than the average for all occupations, as biotechnological research and development continues to drive job growth.”

Bad news:

“People with bachelor’s and master’s degrees are expected to have more opportunities in nonscientist jobs related to biology, in fields like sales, marketing, publishing, and research management.”
