UW-Madison to Emerson Transfer

Hey guys,

I'm currently a Sophomore at UW-Madison and I'm looking to transfer to Emerson. I've decided that I want to pursue screenwriting and UW only has one class on that subject when I could major in it at Emerson. I also love Boston.

I have a 3.0 so far at UW, but that should go up after this semester. What weighs my GPA down is a got Cs in Psychology and Calculus, so would Emerson even care about those grades? I had a 3.6 in high school and was top 12% in my class.

I got a 33 on the ACT with a 9 on writing. Here on campus I'm the commissioner of marketing and event coordination for student elections and I'm an intern for AV-Club Madison.

What do you guys think my chances are? Are transfers common at Emerson? Also, if I were to be accepted, do you think I would be able to defer that enrollment for two semesters to make some money here at home?

Thanks a lot!

You will likely need to call Emerson to find out if you can defer for a year.

I’m planning on it. Just wanted to see if anyone had ever heard of a transfer being allowed to defer their enrollment.
