UW Madison vs U of Georgia vs Clemson vs Miami vs U of South Carolina

I live in South Carolina and have been accepted to all of the above schools with no scholarship incentive except a little at USC. I will most likely not go into debt regardless of where I choose, but obviously spending less money is good when possible. I am interested in business, particularly entrepreneurship, and am just lost between these universities. Clemson is my first choice of in state schools but is not on par with Wisconsin and Georgia when it comes to academics. I guess I am just a little lost right not and am looking for any advice I can get. I have toured Wisconsin, Georgia, and Clemson and like them all. If academics were not a factor I would most likely choose it because many of my friends will be attending, it is in state, and I liked the campus. So is the academic boost worth giving up those things and how much will it affect me getting out of college? Anything is appreciated. Have a good one.

If I am not mistaken, South Carolina has a world-class International Business department, and it’s in-state for you. Just a thought.

The “academic boost” isn’t worth it. You need to choose the college you feel is most at home. If you take advantage of all the opportunities at Clemson, you will be just as successful.

However, you don’t want to go too far into debt for undergrad. What are the exact costs of each school? How much can you exactly afford each year to graduate without debt?

Honestly I have a college fund prepared to support me however I need, but whatever I do not spend I will receive after college. This may be incentive to stay in state and have money for a startup after school.

One thing I’ve noticed about Clemson graduates is that they do very well in business and starting their own businesses. There’s Carl - the guy who started Greenville’s Table 301 restaurant chain, who bought his first downtown building and opened his first restaurant before the dust had settled on his Clemson diploma. We have friends who majored in engineering at Clemson and then went into business for themselves and became wildly successful. My thoughts are that Clemson is very good for networking, which is important to someone with your ambitions. Of course, you’d have to wear orange a lot. There is that.

I appreciate the advice and confidence booster. Sadly orange is not really my color

I think you are overestimating “the academic boost”. All of the schools you’ve been accepted to have strengths. I think you should consider cost and outcomes as well as weather. Madison Wi is gorgeous in the summer but wickedly cold in the winter. Just make sure you’re up for it .
