UW School of Medicine/College of Arts&Science

How competitive is the school of medicine-esp the department of pediatrics-compared to that of the college of arts and science? I will be applying to UW-Seattle very soon but I don't know which school to apply to. I'm planning to become a pediatrician, but would it be safer to just go in with an undeclared major? Can this increase my chance of getting accepted?

GPA:3.75
Rank: top 10% (401 students)
SAT:will be taking it and guessing it'll be in the range of 1900-2100
SATII: none, UW does not require.
ECs: enough
Essay: will do the best i can, but it will not be horrible.

Need as much responses!! so please tell me what you think. Thanks!

Don’t pediatricians have to do the whole bachelor’s + MD route? I don’t think pediatrics is an undergraduate major, if that’s what you’re asking.

As a high school senior, you can NOT apply to the School of Medicine. To become a pediatrician, you must first earn a bachelor’s degree from an accredited 4-year school and take the MCAT (Medical College Admission Test) in order to apply to medical school.

Then what school must I apply to in order to become a pediatrian? I’m sorry if what I’m saying is unclear… What should I major in to become a pediatric neurologist?
