UWC Mahindra Interview 2015

Hello everyone! I just wanted to get to know any other applicants who have been selected for the selection camp at MUWCI in April. For any of you wondering, I’m in group B myself. I’m from Hyderabad, and I’m studying IGCSE in 10th grade. I’m very excited about this and a bit nervous, but I’m looking forward to hearing from all of you. Maybe we can help each other out along the way! :slight_smile:

Hey I just got the acceptance letter today! I am in group B too . I am studying CBSE.

@amartyaU123 that’s great! How are your boards doing in the middle of all of this? :open_mouth: I honestly have no clue what to bring for my object of personal significance, do you know what you will get? What are your top three college choices? :slight_smile:

@xhopex My boards are starting from 11th but I don’t think I will be able to concentrate on them in the middle of all this.
No haven’t thought about that yet .How about my phone?:stuck_out_tongue: Well I will be applying to MUWCI only I think. What about you?

BTW they mentioned that there will be 10 people in our group and there are three groups so that accounts to just 30 people.WTF?

Hi guys! Even I had applied for MUWCI this year! But Im in group A! @amartyaU123 your are in CBSE and your boards start only from the 11th? That’s wierd. Cuz Im in CBSE too and mine started from the 3rd itself! Yeah so how are your boards going on? @xHopex Your from Hyderabad? Nice :slight_smile: Where are you from amartya?
Pls keep me posted guys :slight_smile: Hope to meet you there…:slight_smile:

Haha that’s because my boards are internal i.e they are conducted by my school ,not by CBSE externally.How are your boards going so far. (How was science?)

Hi guys!! even I got the acceptance letter today via email… Does anyone know anything about the interview or aptitude test. I am curious 8-|

Which group are you in @binaryguy101‌ ? The aptitude test is nothing fancy but will just test our basic knowledge so we can’t prepare for it. As for the interviews ,I am as clueless as you are.

@amartyaU123‌ haha, well, good luck for your boards! I think a phone’s actually a very solid idea. My father told me to take food xD As for the college choices, I think my top 3 are between Pune, Norway, Canada and Atlantic. Oh, well. We’ll see :stuck_out_tongue:
No, I think they have multiple sections in the groups themselves. So as per my understanding, there are 3 groups: A, B and C, and then each of these groups have four sections of 10 applicants. So in total, 120 applicants.

@tamy2299 Hi there! Congrats on the email! Yes, I’m from Hyderabad, where are you from? How are your boards faring? :open_mouth: Do you have any idea about what you’re getting for your object of personal significance? I’m so confused as to what to bring… I might just end up bringing a picture or something.

@binary101 Hello! Congrats on the acceptance! What group are you in, and where are you from? I read a thread somewhere that stated that the aptitude test was sort of formatted like the SATs. I don’t know if this is true, though. I believe it’s not supposed to be very difficult, so I don’t think you should worry too much about that. :slight_smile:

Oh, whoops! I meant to tag @binaryguy101‌ in that last comment. Sorry about that.

OOOH, also, @binaryguy101 I met with someone who had been through the process two years back, and she told me that there are essentially 2 interviews; one with the alumni and one with the panel. I think they basically want to know what makes you tick, so anything that you want them to know about you, you should tell them. :slight_smile:

Thanx. Well I am debating my options right now haha. So according to you we may or may not be in the same 10 people group?

@amartyaU123‌ I am i group C.
@xHopex‌ I also read that the application process has changed this year. According to a few friends of mine at UWC the interview is the driving factor behind your selection. While the aptitude test is a filter kind of thing, where they want to make sure you academically eligible.

I also wanted toknow how many of 30 get selected?? I hope they do not slash us down by 50%

There are not 30 people , there are 120 @binaryguy101‌ . As for the selections they select about 55 people (maybe 60 this year) out of which around 10 go around the world and the rest go to MUWCI so yes , they do slash us down by 50%

@binaryguy101‌ What activities do they give us to do and how much of a deciding factor are they?
About the “object presentation”, any pointers?

It still seems doubtful… there are 3 groups and approximately 10 per group. so then isn’t that 30?
@amartyaU123‌.
I do not know about the activities but the presentation should be a major factor. Plus I heard that they do not care about the object, but your communication is key here.

@amartyaU123‌ Nope, we might not be in the same group of 10 people! I really hope we are though, it would make me less nervous knowing someone beforehand, haha.

@binaryguy101 Yes, there are three groups: A, B and C. But I was told that each of these groups has 4 subdivisions; which means 10 people per subdivision. This indicates that there are about 40 people per day, and 40x3 for all three days, so about 120 people in total.

I wonder about the debates and discussions, though. Do you have any ideas what could come up as a topic for debate?

@binaryguy101 That’s good to hear. Do we have to give the presentation in front of 40 or the 10 people of our group(It would be pretty unsettling to speak in front of 40 people xD) and what about the cross questioning part?

@xhopex I thought there were no GD’s, just two interviews ??

@amartyaU123‌ I guess the thrill is to speak in front of 40 people. For the cross questioning, the more the questions you are asked the better it is. Here it is linguistic intelligence that comes into play.
