Vacation on Internship question

Hello all,

I was offered an un-paid internship position at Smith Barney... 2 days a week... I start this Tuesday February 12th ... I had already booked a vacation for March 14 - 21 ..

Do you guys think it is alright to ask for off time this early?

I'd have to take 3 days off ...

Please any help from anybody with internship experience would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

and by the way this is by far the best message board around... I've been coming here since SAT days haha

Not sure that they really expect you to work during a school break where students usually go away, but it's best to let them know or ask early.

They should be pretty lenient on it. I mean my employers give me time off when I am out of town for breaks or need to study for an exam.

They should put your education first, thats why you go to college. Then list your other priorities such as internships.

I agree. Most companies are quite flexible with interns, and esp. since you had prior plans, it should not be a problem. You could offer to do an extra day the week before you leave and the week after you return, that would show that you felt responsible for your duties.
