I don’t know if you all have a Facebook group like this where you live but the one in my area really restores my faith in humanity. There are so many people on it providing help and guidance to those desperate to find an appointment for the Covid vaccine. The teens who are booking appointments for older people make me teary with joy.
Yep we have one in my area.
Yep, Chicago Vaccine Hunters.
I realized my husband is eligible and after spending all morning one day last week trying to get him an appointment at Walgreens was so frustrated with their system, I joined Chicago Vaccine Hunters and that night, no problem got one at CVS based on the workaround people told me to use. He has to go an hour away but that’s not a big deal considering with Covid that’s no different than driving downtown on a typical day with traffic.
On April 12, my 18 year old will be eligible as Illinois is opening to anyone over 18 who wants the vaccine. Can’t wait as he is the last of my 4 kids to be able to get vaccinated. It will be a huge relief that we can all be together with my family at one time.
I went to my son’s college town three hours away. It was easy to get an appointment there, plus I got to see my son.
I posted on four local Facebook groups to let people know this particular state facility had lots of times slots. What was awesome was that a bunch of people then posted on my posts to share how they got appointments more quickly. So every bit helps.
The Colorado Vaccine Hunters FB group has been very active. It’s had helpful hints. Lots of helpers there, reaching out to strangers when they need a hand dealing with the “Hunger Games” challenges.
We have one in our state. I’ve gotten appointments for others and had members get appointments for me. 100 so far. People really want to help.
