I'm moving into a room with a carpet next semester, so I'm thinking I might need the vacuum since it is carpeted and the room was used the previous semester by someone else. Do you guys think I should buy one? If not, I might just buy a keyboard. :D

I brought a little vacuum. I am not sure HOW, but my carpet always ends up needing to be vacuumed again within two or three days, and it is just too much of a pain to borrow the one from the desk that often. Vacuuming is enough of a chore already, it would probably never get done if I had to go to the trouble of renting it.

I only vacuum like once a month. Generally at that point there is stuff all over the floor. But yeah, just get a small vacuum that will fit int he closet or under the bed.

You could save a little money and see if your RA if they lend some out and how that works.

I should have added, chances are there will be a vacuum for you to use, it’s just a question of convenience. If you really don’t want to buy a vacuum I would wait until you get to school and purchase one only if you find out there isn’t one for you to use, or if it’s too inconvenient to borrow one from the school. The ones my school have are massive and don’t fit under my desk or in any of the nooks and crannies in my room, it’s a pain to haul it from my room and back, and when you go to return it the desk staff make you get down on your hands and knees in the middle of the lobby floor to clean out the wheels while everybody gawks at you. It’s just unpleasant!
