Have you guys heard anything about this new program at upenn? It’s a joint program between the college and wharton. torn between the bio research track and the business track, i ADORE this program because of the mix between the two areas (not to mention, the internships and the science research oppurtunities) However i hear the acceptance rate is really low, it’s really tough to get in?

Yes and there are many other discussion about this on the Penn Thread.

I would guess the acceptance rate this year averaged 10-12% (ED rate was much higher than RD). The acceptance rate will probably decrease as the program becomes more well-known. There's no harm in applying. I wasn't at all expecting to get in because I had VERY little business background, but I guess I got lucky :) It was my top choice too.

As far as choosing a track, don't worry about that. Just pick one for your application; you can switch up to sophomore year. I originally chose the life sciences track, but I've decided to switch to management. In any case, it's a difference of 3 or 4 courses. Most of the curriculum is the same.

Thanks ladyinred. another question, do you know what exactly the LSM admission officers are looking? I, too, have little business experience but am very interested in this area.

From what I know (and the directors of the program have said this as well) there are no comparable programs among Penn's peers (i.e. top 25-30 universities). At other undergrad schools, you'd have to pursue a dual degree..

In terms of what they're looking for, I have no clue. In your essay for the program, try to illustrate why you're interested in both business and science. I can send you mine if you want.
