My son was invited to participate in the Vagelos Scholars Program in Molecular Life Sciences. We've read what's available on the web, but any input from current students in the program would be very much appreciated.

As an aside, he is most likely comparing this to the Integrated Science Program at Northwestern and chemistry at Cornell.

I’m interested in hearing more about this too. I don’t recall stating Biology or Chemistry on my application (I put physics) so I’m not sure why I was invited; however, the summer research stuff does sound really interesting.

I was invited too! I would also like some input from current or former students, especially since the option of getting a Master’s in the next four years seems pretty daunting :/

iirc, this is a subdivision within the college so if you can always drop it to do a normal college major instead if you don’t like it. It is from what I’ve heard a very challenging curriculum but unfortunately I don’t know anyone in it so can’t comment further.

^Thanks for that, I found some helpful responses.
In case any current/former Scholars find this thread, I’ll repost what I put on the older thread (which hasn’t had any posts in a year):

I got invited to this…I was wondering, if anyone knows, would submatriculating into a Master’s be extremely difficult? This might be an irrational fear but I’m worried that even if I can handle the coursework, if I decide to submatriculate, I’ll come up with a crappy topic to research on. (Although this could be attributed to bad research experiences in high school…)
