There was an older thread from 2008 where students shared that their val isnt as smart as other kids. They shared what they were like and how the got into college shockingly and where. I thought I’d bring it back.
How is “smartest” defined?
My school doesn’t weight so every year the valedictorian is someone who didn’t take honors/AP
In the previous thread, they were talking about how smartest was represented as well rounded, while the other kids who were more academically @saillakeerie
Smart and lazy got the title of Val, surprisingly
“Smartest” is very subjective. How do you determine that? Supposed “best” kid at given subject or all subjects? Just math/science? Include humanities? Art? How about intangibles (ability to figure things out)?
Often times here (and elsewhere outside college/academics), folks try to take the subjective and make it objective. To me, “smartest kid” is an example of that.
Ill give you the link to the other thread @saillakeerie
Why?
And its valedictorian, which means it happens to be different stories determining a school and how they rank. The people in the other thread had classes, talked with these kids, this how they know all that. I see and I get what you mean when people do this, it may at times be out of jealousy, but sometimes it is just a funny objective, that tells the truth and something anyone can relate to, thanks for your feedback @saillakeerie
lol the valedictorian at my school took like 10 subjects during his senior year, 6 of the most rigorous classes at school and 4 other ones online. Needless to say he got into harvard as an international and i reckon he deserved it 100%
Thats exciting! @anon73469143 That is a good story
Valedictorian got accepted to a less prestigious school than me, if that’s how you gauge smartness
