<p>Does it give you a special feeling knowing that you're the "smartest" person on campus?</p>

<p>@jussayin12: I know what you mean about the val taking easier classes! My school’s had a reputation of the valedictorians taking easier classes… I think it benefits more being salut. but having a harder schedule.</p>

<p>I will be a valedictorian (one of maybe 20, my school gives valedictorian status to anyone with a 4.0 or better) , but that in no way makes me feel smarter than anyone else. It just lets me know I worked hard. Questions like these are incredibly pointless in my opinion.</p>

<p>My school doesn’t have it, but going by unweighted I’m valedictorian and weighted I’m salutatorian</p>
<p>I was a valedictorian, but I graduated in 2008. I definitely wasn’t going easy on my schedule, either; I had 6 AP classes senior year (Psych, Bio, Gov, Latin, Calc, Stats). Ended up with a 5 in everything but calc (got a 4), too.</p>
<p>My school doesn’t have the valedictorian give a speech, though, so I didn’t have to do that. My university gives me a $1000 per year scholarship for having been valedictorian, so that’s nice.</p>
<p>The only thing I’m looking forward to is the speech. Being the “smartest” kid at my school isn’t much of an honor (and I wouldn’t even say I’m the “smartest” kid either).</p>

<p>Being valedictorian is based on numbers that can change your life. GPA. However, GPA is very trivial to your success in life. In no way does a high GPA indicate intelligence nor success later in life. I was once told a very great advice: forget the numbers for in the end, they do not matter. That, of course, does not mean to get 2.5 GPA and think it’s fine. But you’ll truly understand what I mean when you are done with school, if not earlier.</p>
