Hi. I will be living off-campus this school year coming up, and I was wondering if any of you have bought/used OCMP (if you never heard of it, visit OCMP: Off Campus Meal Plan). Is it worth it? I was also going to put money on my Flex so I could buy food at Trabant & Perkins (I will definitely not buy meals, since I don't like the dining halls on campus). Did you feel that the OCMP was worth the money and wasn't ripping you off? Any advice would be great. Thanks!

Our D used the OCMP for several years while she was at UD. She found it convenient to use and meals are available at most all the restaurants on Main Street. From a cost perspective, compared to paying cash for the same meal including all the same components included in the “meal”, and depending at what restaurants you choose to eat at, it did appear to save a little money, but not a lot. It certainly was not a rip off. You just need to be sure you use all your “meals” each semester as they do not carry over to the next semester. On the other hand, if you find you need more meals, you can just purchase more on-line and they would just be added to your card’s account. This was our D’s experience with the OCMP-other people might have different perspectives. Good luck.
