Vanderbilt Commodore Orchestra

Hi Everyone,

If you play any orchestral instruments and are looking for opportunities to play great symphonic and orchestral repertoire, please consider joining the Vanderbilt Commodore Orchestra. It is open to everyone by audition. I mean everyone, not just students, staff, faculty, and alumni.

The past year, we’ve played major works, such Dvorak’s New World Symphony, Bizet’s Carmen, Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony, and Sibelius’ Finlandia. We will be performing Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 and other works this upcoming concert in December.

Our faculty adviser is a world renowned trombonist from the Vienna Philharmonic, and our music director is an accomplished pianist who has conducted major orchestras in the past.

If you are interested in joining the orchestra, please send an email to orchestra@vanderbilt.edu with the subject “Prospective Member: [your name]” with what instrument you play and a little bit about yourself, and we’ll add you to our list of contacts to announce auditions!

Please ask away for any questions!
