did anyone get accepted without scores?
DD applied RD as Test Optional. Seems ominous that the only rejects posting here seem to have applied TO.
I was under the impression tests would not be considered.
Huh.
Test optional not test blind
Tests werenât really an option in many parts of CA this past yearâŠno seats availableâŠproctors bailedâŠsites didnât operate. AOs surely have to understand it simply wasnât an option for lots of kidsâŠwe searched the maximum radius the tool allowed and couldnât get dates here.
Accepted. Did not submit test scores.
My son was accepted. No test scores. We live in Norcal and he had 5 test dates / seats cancelled. He did explain that in his app
Has anyone received their acceptance package in the mail yet?
ED. Rejected. Sent test scores. They were good - act 34. Perfect grades. Tons of volunteer hours. Activities. Leadership. Part time job. Varsity sports. 2 languages. Definitely no rhyme or reason. Sheâs fine. Moved on to the other apps she sent off. So you never know you may get in?
Ugh, this is truly a test! Iâm convinced thereâs no way to be sure! A classmate told DD she was âsureâ sheâd be getting accepted at Duke because her background was sooooo similar to my daughterâs friend who is a freshman there this year.
Bawwwwwhaha!!! I donât think ANYONE understands why some get in & others get passed!!!
Does anyone know how many freshmen will receive acceptance letters this year at Vandy? (Tulane chopped their EAs because too many kids accepted in their last season!).
Out of those acceptances, do we know how many Vandy slots went to ED kids; and how many are left for RD kids?
Vandy is 1st choice for DD but sheâs RD.
I wonder how many slots that leaves for RD?
Vandyâs incoming class size is consistently 1600, give or take a few. Usually itâs about a 60-40 ratio meaning 60% of the class is ED. I think thereâs data on how many RD kids were accepted last year online!
I know Vandy used to not defer ED, is that still true?
You are correct. But this year, the ED1 pool was so strong, they did defer a very small number (per the article above.) I believe they are deferred to RD.
That is true of all elite schools. And it depends on your definition of âbestâ. Schools are building a class with diverse talents and interests. Theyâre not looking to build a class comprised only of high stat students who scored 1500 or higher on the SAT or took a certain number of APs. And for what itâs worth, these schools could easily do just that and every âqualifiedâ applicant still wouldnât be accepted. There simply arenât enough spaces to take them all.
That was very smart. A lot of applicants really mistook test optional for test blind. I always advise kids to take standardized tests, because admissions are hard enough as is, and you donât want to give the AOs any more room for questions - âWhy did the kid decide not to take the test if he/she is so smart and confident?â
Once again, congrats to your DS. Vandy is a great great school and very well run. I expect Dan Diermeier (newly inaugurated Chancellor) to do many great things, as he did at Northwestern and UChicago.
Go 'Dores!
Hi,
I just recently applied Vanderbilt ED II and accidentally chose test-optional â I have a 33 on the ACT and wanted to send it. Would there be any way to fix my testing choice?
If not, I was wondering if Iâd still have a chance â I have a 4.3 gpa and solid ecâs/leadership.
Thanks and congrats to those whoâve been accepted!
Some portals allow you to change your testing plan, but it doesnât look like Vanderbiltâs does. I would get in contact with an admissions officer immediately. You should be able to change it in time for a decision.
hey! did anyone get accepted test-optional? i applied ED2 and accidentally also applied test-optional. i contacted an admissions officer but it seems like they wonât change it for me. thank you in advance!
Whos applying ED 2?
