All ED1 applications should receive an admissions decision by December 15. Last year, Vanderbilt admitted 859 of the 4,321 applicants who applied early decision. The acceptance rate was 19.88%.
See updates and discuss results with other Vanderbilt applicants.

I’m not aware of any significant difference between them in terms of selectivity. I would suggest you apply to the school that you’re actually most interested in attending.
I’m not sure if this is still the case, but when I applied to Vanderbilt, there was an option to put first and second choices for schools.
I was hoping there’d be more chatter on this thread. Did anyone else apply ED?
My daughter did. We’re in South Florida. 4.0 gpa (4.9 weighted). Lots of APs. 1530 SAT the only time she took it. Part time job for 1 1/2 years at a local pharmacy (she wants to major in Chem and go into medical research). Lots of ECs and Leadership. Strong LORs. She’s had health issues since she’s young and she wrote about the guilt she felt (unbeknownst to me) growing up as a sick child and how that inspired her desire to go into research. It was a heavy essay and her Truth.
Does anyone else want to share? I think we should be hearing in a few weeks, possibly the week of December 15th.
Hey guys! I applied ED. I did not get an interview… this bothers me a lot. They keep saying it isn’t a huge deal and that they simply don’t have enough interviewers. I hope it isn’t because I’m not a worthy enough candidate. Can someone please chance me/tell me how my stats sound?
3.98 UW GPA as an IB Diploma Candidate
1570 SAT (790 math/780 RW)
National Merit Semifinalist
Russian Seal of Biliteracy
A bunch of state-level awards in cross country and track, including school records
Several honor societies
5 on AP Calc and APUSH, 6 on IB Business (also, does anyone know if it’ll negatively impact me that I only have 3 test scores? Since I’m in IB, my schedule is full and we test in 5 of 6 classes senior year).
I’m in Vanderbilt Programs for Talented Youth (8 person Vanderbilt mentorship program)
I hope to become an Orthodontist but am also slightly interested in environmental science
ECs fall into one of 3 categories: Career-related (including shadowing for orthodontics) and had an environmental science internship in a Nashville nature park, sports (have done a lot with XC and track) and Russian stuff (founded a Russian literacy program for kids and am a volunteer at a Russian camp and got the Seal of Biliteracy).
I applied to Peabody; I hope to double-major in Cognitive Science and Medicine, Health, and Society (in CAS).
I forgot to mention I’m from Kansas (an underrepresented area I guess?)
I’d really appreciate any insight on my chances of being admitted. Vandy has been my dream forever and the whole issue with the interview is definitely stressing me out. Again, I’d really love it if any of you who may know about what it takes to get into Vanderbilt ED can help me out by telling me your thoughts!
Hi there - I have a feeling you are looking for feedback with someone who nay have more data. However, I reviewed your message and wanted to comment. You are a very strong candidate from what I can tell. You should be very proud of your accomplishments!
It sounds like lots of other applicants did not get selected for an interview as well. Try your best not to read into it, but I know that’s impossible.
Best of luck to you! Hopefully you’ll hear good news on 12/15!!!
