This is sooooo surreal. I can’t wait for next year! Is there an official Facebook group?

@593peppy There is but you have to request to join because I think it is run by current students! I was thinking about starting another one just for the people on this thread! would anybody be up for that?

@vandyloss‌ Wow thats crazy it definitely seems like you deserve to get in!! Im so sorry, but your gonna get into another school just as great! Im sure of it!K

Accepted(:

@mmnp21 thank you-- im honestly in shock-- I really thought I met the all of the qualifications. The admission office continuously says that it a holistic process. Looks like they are looking for numbers and care about US NEWS RANKINGS – the holistic comment sounds nice but seems like lip service to me.

School Chairperson (highest ranking student govt position), Vice President of Honor society, competitive chorus competition, 4 years of high school musical. 8 AP’s , 33 on ACT , 96.38 un-weighted, 97.86 weighted. Seems holistic to me. Vandy’s loss. I’m devastated but need to move on.

@nerdfighter23 I am so sorry you didn’t get in. I can’t imagine how this feels for you. I wanted to meet you in real life! I hope everything goes well for you in the future. Once agin, I am sorry

@nerdfighter23 I am so, so sorry. I know it’s hard to hear right now, but whatever school you go to will be extremely lucky to have you. Be proud of what you accomplished! You are a wonderful person and student, and I wish you the best of luck!

Hey guys, I was rejected too. Congrats to those who got in though.

@vandyloss‌ My daughter was also rejected, with great stats, leadership, activities and experiences. I think it is Vandy’s loss, however, they can’t take everyone. For every student that was accepted there are 2 or 3 incredibly talented and deserving students who are going to thrive elsewhere. Congratulations to those accepted!

@2cassandra2 I am so sorry!! You seem like an awesome awesome girl and im sure you deserved to get in just like the rest of us!! You will get in wherever your supposed to go!

For all those rejected. You would definitely find a place where you would succeed. If one door closes plenty will open. Just keep the positive spirit you all are amazing kids

Congrats to all who got in! I just wanted to say to those who got rejections, that if Vandy truly is your dream school, all is not lost. My oldest is a senior there now. She applied RD 4 years ago. She was waitlisted. She went on to our state school, on a full scholarship, got a 4.0, and applied to transfer. She was accepted, and had a fabulous experience as a transfer student. She did not love her state school, but made it work. That first year helped her decide what she wanted to do with her life, and was a very important part of her overall education (life lessons along with book learning). It also made her appreciate the difference in rigor, opportunities, and honestly food, so much more! Her younger sister applied ED and was accepted. They are the happiest they have ever been. Congrats to all who got acceptances!

accepted!! 3.2 GPA, but amazing essays, leadership, extracirriculars, recs, and essays!

@leadergirl13, love it! Great to see that it’s not just about the numbers. Sometimes seems like Vandy’s more enamored of the test scores than many comparable places.

In any case, it’s a no-go for me. 32 ACT probably did me in. Everything else was pretty solid. I think Vandy may officially be the toughest nut to crack in the south.

I found out mid-track meet, and then I absolutely killed it in my final race! Like to think of that as channeling adversity to a positive end. I know how to turn anger into speed, in any case, that’s for sure! Lol.

How you deal with adversity will have far more to do with your success in this life than where you go to college. For those who didn’t get in, maybe this will be a (let’s face it, very mild) lesson in that regard.

I think my dad is secretly happy, cause ultimately he’d rather see me at UVA at half the price. And I may well see the wisdom in that view come grad-school time. But right now, mostly, I’m crying over all the great live music I’m going to miss! :-)

Seriously, congrats to all that got in, and good luck and best wishes to all.
