BTW since everyone seems to be posting their personal stats to help partially understand our applicant reviewers,
4.0 (unweighted) GPA, 1540SAT, (Varsity) Soccer 4 yrs (to State), Speech/Debate point leader for State, Rotary Interact Club President, 2 summers volunteer at a Medical Mission in Tanzania/Malawi. Applied ED to Princeton and was wait-listed like 2000 others so with only 2 days for deadline applied to Vanderbilt ED2 and was accepted yesterday. Dbl Major: Creative Writing and Mathematics.
@archray - Congrats! My DS is a freshman right now. We are from Northern California and he adjusted well.
Stats for me (rejected ED2):
ACT 33 (taken once) GPA UW 3.9/ W 4.5
Mu Alpha Theta Vice President, Newspaper Staff Writer and editor, Chess Club, School Video Announcements. Senior year am a Youth Options student and took all classes as dual enrollment at Marquette University. Pianist, third place at state competition. Have been playing for 12 years. My activities list isn’t that impressive because piano was my biggest hobby. Private lessons, etc. Volunteer musical therapist and performer (over 100 hours). 6 AP classes, two sophomore year, four junior year. None senior year because of dual enrollment. Almost all other classes were advanced/accelerated. Several summer school classes.
Major: Biology, pre-med route
I think some of the reasons I was rejected would be that I skipped a grade, so I’ll be 17 when I start my freshman year. Some colleges may not like that. Also applied for a very competitive major. Extracurricular isn’t as amazing as others because of personal hobbies. Just some ideas
Hope this helps someone thinking of applying!!
@BilboBagans Yes, unfortunately you do have to retract you other applications. One good thing about being rejected, I get to see how I do with the other schools I applied to!
@wannagotovandy - Age shouldn’t be a factor. My son also graduated at 17 and he wasn’t the only 17 yr old freshman at Vandy
@wannagotovandy Your stats were very competitive and you did everything you could. These elite schools are a little bit of a lottery.
@wannagotovandy - Try not to beat yourself up about it. Your stats are great and certainly in line with others who were accepted and probably a lot of who weren’t. They are looking for a class as a whole. Maybe they needed an oboe player, or a lacrosse player, who knows? There seems to be little rhyme or reason to the outside world in who is/isn’t accepted, but I am sure you will end up in a college that will be great fit and where you will thrive. Best of luck to you!
@EDHDAD @amominaz Thanks everyone! I’m completely fine with their decision, just trying to analyze rather than be upset about it. The absolute best of luck to your children as well!
I think from here the most likely option for me is UW-Madison, which of course is a wonderful school, especially for pre-med. Not to mention, we’d be saving ~40k a year. Go Badgers!
@srk2017 I wasn’t implying that when they saw my age they immediately rejected me. I was just saying it may have been a factor that worked against me, which is fairly logical. Colleges should be more hesitant to take responsibility of a minor.
Is there a groupme for Vanderbilt?
@wannagotovandy I also skipped a grade & will be 17 at the beginning of freshman yr, and I got in. Admissions is a crapshoot, and your app seems amazing. You will do great wherever you go.
@cliffnotes - yes, there is. You need to join the Official Class of 2022 Facebook page and the admin will give you the Group me info.
Thank you! @amominaz
Hello ED2 accepted students! My daughter was fortunate enough to get accepted!!! Reading the letter that accompanied the acceptance, it states that we must fill out a “short admitted students form” but I never got it. We have already payed the matriculation fee. Anybody know whats up?

Has anyone seen any news release on ED stats for 2022? Last year, VU released % accepted and a brief summary on the Saturday following ED2 announcements. Can’t seem to find this year. Admit rate was 23.6% last year. Curiosity getting best of me.
DS rejected 1470 SAT 3.9 of 4.0, all honors, 7AP’s, Eagle Scout. From the northeast and kids from same school and a couple from our area who were accepted seemed like only difference is they have better SAT scores either 1500+ SAT or 34/35 ACT but not necessarily as rigorous of course load. As we are making our way through all of this, I think some schools do draw a line on scores just to get “read” much like the National Merit program does and they have different lines depending on what part of the country you come from. In at UMich Engineering though where others with higher SAT/ACT scores were deferred in EA, so pleased with that and they are 6th in the country in Engineering!! Things happen for a reason:-)
@FoxRulz - I would agree; I think Vanderbilt is more scores driven than some other schools.
congrats on UMich Engineering. a very exciting program there with a national profile. The process of applying to these wonderful institutions is in itself…a terrific growth experience for all students.
They posted today - 20.5% acceptance rate for ED
