Vanderbilt Gmail

I have a question about Vanderbilt Gmail. Under the FAQ for this service (VUGmail FAQ | Vanderbilt University Information Technology Services), its says:

What if I already have a Gmail account?
If you already have a Gmail account and create a Vanderbilt Gmail account, your original account will be superseded. That is you will only be able to send/receive mail from your VU Gmail account.

Does this mean that if I switch to Vandy Gmail, I won't be able to access my original/personal Gmail account?

Also, is it possible to transfer exiting mail from your VUWebmail to VUGmail if one does transfer to this service?

Not sure on your second question. But you can definitely have personal email and vandy gmail. There answer seems out of place. I have 2-3 gmail accounts.

I think that answer means that you can’t use the “old” VU mail system after making the switch. I think they’re switching exclusively to GMail for undergraduates in the fall.

Yes, you can have Gmail and Vandy Gmail. And yes you can transfer all your old emails.

if anyone has an iphone and knows how to like the vandy GMAIL account to the iphone email, i would love some help. thanks!

ditto what dtotheustin09 said. i have a gmail account and converted my VUmail to the gmail system, everything works fine :D
