Hey guys,
I decided not to apply to any Vanderbilt merit scholarships because I simply had no time. Do they take this into account in the reviewal of our applications? Is applying to their scholarships a benefit in the application process?
It’s a huge benefit if you’re an international student
If you have a merit scholarship then they won’t worry about your financial aid, so you application will be treated pretty much like a domestic student’s
Like you I also missed this opportunity and now I am planning to apply somewhere else for ed2 because my stats are on the lower side and I have very low chance of getting in
But if you’re a domestic student the your process is need-blind and a scholarship probably won’t make that much difference
I don’t think it will have an impact. My ex husband was concerned that my son’s rushed and less than stellar scholarship applications could hurt his admission chances, but my son tells me that the AO for Vanderbilt told him that the scholarship application process is completely separate from admissions. I could be wrong, but from what I understand, admissions won’t even know if you have or have not applied for a scholarship.
@Trixy34 How could that be? What if the scholarship group thinks a student should receive a scholarship but the admissions office doesn’t admit him? With holistic, competitive admissions, I think that could happen. At the very least, there must be a check mark or something on the app so that admissions knows a student applied for merit.
Anyone know when the major merit scholarship decisions are made? What factors the committee looks in to? Any previous recipients, can you please post your stats. Thank you
I applied regular and applied for Cornelius Vanderbilt - I’ll find out in mid-march so fingers crossed! My mindset is apply if you need the money or think you have a shot!
