[2nd place National Chess Champion in 2007] - this competition taught me at a young age on the importance of how when one practices and studies hard, great rewards can come.

[25th place International Chess Tournament in 2008] - This competition allowed me to become more cultured and realize the importance of education and discipline to succeed in today’s society.

[Assistant Concert Master of MTSBOA in 2011] - This Orchestra demonstrated to me on how when people work hard, people will be able to directly praise you and congratulate you for your accomplishments.

[Lack of Transportation till 11th grade] - In order to attend many of my clubs, I required a form of transportation. Therefore due to monetary reasons and age restrictions I had to often wait 3 hours after my extracurricular activities ended before I could have my mother/father pick me up.

Your ACT and GPA are low for most of the schools. If your musical talent is superlative that is going to help you a lot.

vanderbilt - low reach, high match if you also apply to Blair.
stanford - high reach
U.mich, low reach, or match/high match if you are also applying to music school
rice, reach
northeastern match
emory, high match
ga tech high match
unc chap low reach because you are OOS

What does high/low match mean ? And if i can raise my act to something like 33 would that improve me chances significantly ? Also, what are some other sxhools that i can get into

What are my chances for george wash u and anerican univ

No chances, lol, but nice on MTSBOA. Did you do midstate? All-state? I go to the school that’s probably going to be 2nd in the state for football, and for a while I thought you were our concertmaster, lol.

As for chances, if you’re in Williamson, that may (keyword: may) lower your chances a bit, because there are so many strong applicants from there. Are you applying to UTK as a safety? And also, sorry to say, but Vandy is unlikely by virtue of being from near Nashville. Sorry  Geographic diversity and all

Iam in curb… Ill be too ashamed to say im in williamson on my college resume. Lol. @awesomepolyglot

curb?

Ya. Its the most prestigious one in tennessee woth people from alabama, ky, mississippi coming every week and i have been a member for 4 years. @awesomepolyglot

Bumo

I play a ton of violin as well, did you submit a violin supplemental? All the concertmaster stuff is nice but it depends on the level of the orchestra. What solo piece did you last play?

If you can raise your ACT up to maybe a 33-34, you’d have a far better shot. Right now I’d think you’d make it for gatech, ne. Have you taken subject tests?

I’m a first generation asian american from TN as well! I’m also applying to some of the same schools!

As previously stated your ACT and GPA is a bit low for these schools, but maybe you go to a private school?

vanderbilt: high reach school, sometimes kids have a better chance at Duke, like some of my friends last year, they were rejected from Vandy but waitlisted at Duke.
Stanford: high reach school. Also, the west coast is completely different fom the east coast, U.mich low reach/safety. You will probably get accepted, but they might not give you too much money, and federal financial aid only goes so far.,
rice: low reach; you’re test scores are a little low, but you have above average chance with your ec
northeastern: I applied early action!!! You’re test scores about average for them. I would say it’s a match
emory: I am applying RD and to the oxford college as well. Emory is a bit tough, so I would say it’s about a mid-reach school, but again you have awesome stats
ga tech: One of my friends applied EA, make sure you are commited to engineering or tech stuff, if you go here. You’re test scores are a little low for GT, I would say it’s a low-reach/match school
UNC Chapel Hill: Is super selective when it comes to out of state students. However, you’re scores about in the 25-30%. Again, you may get in, but not get any scholarships.

Have you considered Davidson College, Belmont University, UTK, ETSU, MTSU, Maryville College, Boston University, NYU.

What’s your major?

Also, I did ETSBOA Band and Orchestra.

Please chance me back and message me, it’s great to see someone from TN as well!

No, what IS curb? And @em1998 There’s an ETSU? LOL, I had science olympiad at TSU and a kid went to MTSU instead.

OP - have you considered Virginia Tech?

Vanderbilt- Accept/ waitlist (did you apply ED? if you did, then you will have greater chances :))
Stanford- Waitlist/ reject (you still have a chance though! its just that its the most selective school in the US)
UMich- Accept
Rice- Waitlist
Northeastern- Accept
Chapel Hill- Waitlist (if youre OOS)
Emory- Accept

You are well qualified for any of these schools, but your act score is a little low, but not low enough to prevent you from being accepted. I wish you the best of luck!
Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1831441-chance-me-for-my-list-of-schools-i-will-chance-back.html?new=1

TN has a bunch of state schools. ETSU is in Johnson City. I went to MTSU for my governors school. @awesomepolyglot
