Can anyone read my transfer essay for Vanderbilt?, my nerves are being wracked because I feel like I didn’t do something right for the essay.
@somehmonggirl @watermychances
thank you for both of your replies!
@Mastodon97 I would say yes, but you already sent the app in. At this point I would burn it(literally) and move on. I’m sure your essay is fine.(side note- I spelled sausage “sasuage” in my app, so hoping that isn’t a big deal)
@HopefullyIGetIn aahhhh!! I thought the stress of writing the essays was bad, but actually its a lot worse after you turn everything in!
How long did you guys have to wait for the email to setup your MyAppVU account after sending in the common app?
I’m kinda worried since I used the same email as last year (I’m reapplying) and hope the accounts don’t get mixed up…
@newtmon I think it should take 2-3 days for you to receive confirmation from Vanderbilt.
I didn’t know Vandy did rolling basis. Does that mean my chances are lowered since I submitted 30min before deadline?
@joonyblue12 Lol no, the priority deadline is March 15h so if you did so before the day ended then it won’t make a difference
I just found out that my current college never sent the college report form . I requested the document be sent in December of last year. I’m going to the registrar’s office first thing to have it sent. Hopefully it’s not too late…
Anyone have any suggestions or idea if Vandy will not consider my application now? -Thanks everyone
@sixone You shouldn’t have any problems. They won’t start reviewing applications until later this month at the earliest. And I’m sure they account for the possibility of documents being lost in the mail.
I would make a copy of the college report and email it to your admissions counselor, along with an explanation of why it is coming late, and explain that they will be receiving a copy from the college in the coming days if they prefer it to come directly from the college.
Thanks @mjr2013 for replying. I went to the records office first thing this morning and told them what happened. They ended up emailing my Vandy admissions counselor the document and everything worked out! WHEW!! – That was a close one.
My application was marked complete around December 15th. Do you think because I got it in so early, that could help?
@dullbd , help with what? If you got the application complete early, that’s great! It saves you a headache. If you mean does it raise any admission chances, then no, it doesn’t. I’ve never heard of any college giving admission preference to students who submit their application material earlier than other students.
If you just got access to the portal but you sent in the material a couple weeks ago, will it take time for it to update on the portal or is it a error on my end? I’ve sent stuff like my hs transcript 1 weeks ago and it hasn’t shown up yet
it takes time to update in the portal and just so you guys know, your application does not count as complete until all materials are in, including transcripts letters of rec etc.
@somehmonggirl I’ve already sent in all the materials. they just haven’t updated it
just because you sent it in doesn’t necessarily mean they’ve received it/organized it into your file quite yet. if you just created your myappvu account but sent materials in a long time ago then it might just be a delay in updating your myappvu but also i read an article from vandy admissions explaining the delay in when you send in materials to what all happens before it’s actually in your file, so yeah. i personally wouldn’t count application as complete until it says that officially in myappvu
@somehmonggirl alright sounds good, thanks was starting to worry
Just got confirmation that my application is complete in MyAppVu!
I want to wish everyone the best of luck and I hope WE ALL GET ACCEPTED!!!
This is gonna be the toughest part of the process - waiting.
I give Vandy a lot of credit. I submitted eight applications over winter break, and when I went back about two weeks later, Vandy was the only one who had received and submitted it all, and had marked my application as complete.
Further, when I’ve posted or emailed additional information, such as my second letter of rec, and my midterm report, they’ve been quick and helpful to update my application and keep me updated.
I would say Vanderbilt has been the easiest and most friendly place I have applied to.
