Vanderbilt VS Cornell

I'm trying to decide between Vanderbilt between Cornell as my ED school.
I'm interesting in bio, but not very interested in pre-med track. I will probably choose bio and society major in Cornell which incorporate bio and social science together. Vanderbilt also has a similar program called medical heath and society. I'm also open to change my major if I find something more interesting in college.
Currently I like Cornell more because of its phenomenal natural setting and i think it is more diverse than Vanderbilt (?). I also don't really like school with a huge greek scene.
But since I may change my major in the future. I kinda need to think how easy it is. In cornell, it seems like we need to write some sort of application so as to transfer between colleges; in vanderbilt, the process seems to be a lot simpler. And vanderbilt has a medical center on site which is truly awesome
Any advice would be appreciated, thank you.

Do you like hot or cold? Cornell has Greek too I believe. I also think the remote location is inductive to more parties. But I wouldn’t focus on very specific major for pre-med. Pre-med can be any major.

Cornell does have a Greek scene, so be aware of that. Transferring between colleges is a bit of a process at Cornell; however, switching majors within colleges is fairly easy.

Have you visited both? I wouldn’t recommend ED unless you’ve visited.

Generally if you apply to Cornell’s College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) you can do so undeclared. You can take courses outside of CAS, and indeed pick a major at CAS and a minor at other colleges. You’ll need to transfer only if your eventual major is in a college other than CAS. That doesn’t seem to be your situation since all the subjects you mention are in CAS. See: http://as.cornell.edu/information/orientation/major.cfm

Cornell’s Medical School is in New York City. So if proximity to the University’s Medical School is essential then perhaps Cornell doesn’t meet your needs.

Vanderbilt does ED1 as well as ED2 while Cornell only has one early decision round, so if you’re deferred/rejected from Cornell you can still apply ED2 to Vandy, and presumably get the (slight) admissions boost from both schools. It just depends on which one you like more, and there’s got to be one you prefer! If you flipped a coin and Big Red was heads and the Commodores were tails, which one would you hope to get?

Good luck!
