GO VANDY '09

Outright rejection, woohoo! :-(

I'm so excited ya'll!! Do you have any clue which dorm ya'll are going to stay in?

im sorry to hear about your rejection joseph1552...what were your stats?

stumpy-- im not sure which dorm i wanna stay in--im leaning towards ones with singles, what about you?

That's sounds neat...I think I'm gonna get a double

yeah i wanted a double for the longest time but a good friend of mine is a freshman there now and he has a single and he loves it so he's talking me into going that way as well but im going to visit him before i make my decision haha

Hey guys, I'm a freshman this year so if you have any questions about dorms or really anything, I'd be happy to answer them.

Oh awesome! Which ones would you reccommend?

You'll probably get a questionnaire asking you what type of room you want, but the basics are this:

--If you like to party all the time, you're going to want to be in Branscomb. It is RIGHT across the road from the frats and it basically is the dorm that never sleeps (especially on the weekends.) All the rooms in Branscomb are doubles, so if you're there you'll almost definitely have a roommate. Sometimes a person will get in a double all by his or herself, but that is rare.

--If you aren't as concerned with the drinking and all that and you value your privacy, you'll probably want to be in Kissam. I am in Kissam and love it. People in Branscomb will kid you and say that Kissam people aren't social, but this is not true. Kissam is all single rooms, but you become great friends will all your hallmates and it begins to seem like the whole hall is just one big room that you all share. Whenever I am in my room, generally two or three other people are always with me playing video games, watching tv, or studying. Also, Kissam people party just as much as Branscomb people, it's just that they can get away from it and have peace ad silence when they want it. The only downside to Kissam is that it's a good walk from just about everything on campus--it's kinda tucked away in its own corner of the campus.

There is my two cents...I hope it helps.

frylock-- what are you majoring in? and do you play any sports at vandy?

How about Vanderbilt and Barnard? Would you reccommend them?

I'm majoring in Congnitive Studies and something else...not really sure right now. No, I don't play any sports, but I am in the theatre program :) About Vandy/Barnyard (cheesy nickname everyone uses), it's not nearly as communal as the other dorms because the halls are larger than either Kissam or Branscomb. It's mostly doubles with a few singles. It would honestly probably be my last choice in terms of freshman dorms, but some people do like it.
