Hey! I have been accepted to UCLA and Vandy for Neuroscience and I was wondering which one is better. I am not looking for the run around of "which school fits you" or how much it's going to cost. I can handle that part on my own. I was just wondering about the rankings of the two for that major just to help me make a more informed decision. Thanks!

in that case, it makes no difference which school. the neuroscience majors are so close as to not matter. that’s why we do the “run around,” kid.

There is no official ranking for undergraduate ‘majors’. The PhD rankings are often based on publication rates, which won’t apply to the experience of the undergraduate program.

I don’t know from official, but as an academic I do know department, program, school reputations quite often. There’s nothing of any significance to differentiate the two programs, and both are in excellent schools. But that is not the same as saying that I think the OP will do well at either. All I know about the OP is that he or she was accepted to the schools, and that suggests he or she has something going on under the scalp.

Talk about chutzpah! Go to a forum where people give advice to try to help college kids and insult the respondents. I am a fan of UCLA so it is my hope you take your arrogant *** to Vanderbilt.

You can find ranking of neuroscience department from US NEWS or many other systems on the net yourself as well, if you believe them, why bother to have a straw poll from a forum?

Over 22% of UCLA classes have 50 or more students. That is the highest percentage, by far, of any top 25 national university. Over 11% of UCLA class sections have 100+ students, compared to about 2% at Vanderbilt. Big classes are likely to be concentrated in high-demand departments such as biology and psychology (where you may have many required courses for your neuroscience program).
