Vandy or Umich or Middlebury?

I want to go into investment banking or consulting. Could anyone give me advice on which school to go to? Thanks

Have you been accepted to all three, including Ross direct admit? Are you a transfer student?

Any of them will do the trick. Obviously Middlebury is closer to NYC and Wall Street but both Vandy and UMich are such good schools. You have 3 great choices that will all lead to excellent professional opportunities, so try to pick what is the best “fit” for you personally. Congratulations!

OP: You have not share enough information.

Yes, I am a transfer, so not Ross admit

Thank you for your advice. What other information would you need?

Do you mean now, for fall 2020? Or are you debating where to apply?

Now, I am a transfer student.

@TimJ00 I’d go to Midd; Peter Matthews has assembled arguably the best LAC Economcis Dept in the country and the networks into IB/Consulting are as good as anywhere.

Ross has their own career center, I am not sure that IB or consulting firms recruit at UMich the non-Ross career center…are you in LSA? What will your major be? Can you get a Ross minor?

You need to ask the U Mich career center whether IB and/or consulting firms hire non-Ross students (or even if non-Ross students get interviews for these).

At Middlebury, anyone can interview for these jobs. Same probably at Vandy, but I know less about Vandy and not even sure it’s an IB target school. Again, I would speak with the career centers.

IB is extraordinarily competitive and most job offers will go to those students who interned in these jobs in the summer prior to senior year. Applications for these internships will be due this summer for you, or by this Fall at the latest…so get on that, and when you are speaking with the career centers cover this as well. Consider other banking careers/areas too…fixed income, asset mgmt, research analyst, etc.

Consulting is competitive too, so get on that too.

Lastly, what are the net costs of each of these schools? Will you be taking out loans? If so, how much for each?

Thank you so much for your advice.

Yes, I am in LSA, so I would no longer consider UMich.

I am an international student, so the cost is nearly the same for me. This is not a factor to consider. I will try to reach out to their career center. Thanks again!
