Last summer I had an internship at a federal lab, and it looks as though I can go back this year. As an undergrad mech eng major, is it important to get internships at different companies/orgs each summer? Or does it look ok to spend more than one summer at the same place, particularly if it's a good spot?

From my perspective as an engineering manager, I think it is fine to have more than one summer in the same place, especially if it is in the same type of work where you will be looking for a job. On the other hand, if you aren’t particularly interested in that type of work, getting experience in another area could make it easier to find a job in that other area.
