Vassar College ED 2 Class of 2022

GOT IN!!! I’m literally paralyzed with happiness

I got deferred with a 1200 SAT! Not what I was expecting but at least it wasn’t a rejection!!

I got in my SAT was 1450, but I was also recruited for swimming so I don’t know how much it factored into the decision.

I was accepted ED2 with a 1510 sat (760reading/750math) but a 3.88 uw gpa. However, I’m not in the top 10% of my class (I am in top quarter). Also, I’m from Oregon. I’ll post a more detailed thing later but I would say that it is definitely worth applying ED if you really want to go. I think my chances would have been a lot lower if I hadn’t applied ED, especially as a girl because Vassar has many more female applicants than males. Also it is a huge relief to know early and be done with the college process.

Rejected :((

Deferred

Deferred

I got in!!! Any idea when will we receive our financial awards?

@mockingbird99 @blueberrychai @ssg1999 @alexiscerritos @VassarFTW @SaphaelEterna @Vwitchel @oregonian29 @wejcjbhbvhrv what are your stats? I really want to go to Vassar next year…I think I may ED. Thanks!

@niobe4 My SAT was 1200, with my math section being higher. My gpa unweighted is a 3.8 and I have many EC’s. I think my hook was being a URM interested in STEM. I live in the same city as Vassar so I do a lot of programs there as well. My high school has a special relationship with the school (it’s low income so I think Vassar is trying to increase number of people who apply). My recommendations and essays were pretty good. I just typed what was on the top of my head but message me again if you have questions!

@niobe4 I’m a male in northern NJ…I applied as a Biology major, but I’m also interested in English and Urban Studies.

I got a 31 on my ACT. My unweighted GPA is around a 3.8.

I have a few extracurriculars: Class Treasurer during my Freshman Year, Vice President of Alex’s Lemonade Stand Club, Vice President of Chinese Club, President of Crafts for Kindness, Secretary of Habitat for Humanity, and involved in other clubs like Percussion Ensemble and Key Club. I have a part-time job as a receptionist at a tennis club that I wrote my college essay on. I’m in National Honors Society and National World Language Honors Society for Chinese. I also wrote a play for a Creative Writing class that my teacher (also our school’s play/musical director) loved and is putting on in the spring. I had two solid teachers write my recommendation letters – one of which knew I was going to Vassar from the start.

I submitted a research paper for my “Your Space” – it covered the effects of fracking on drinking water. It may sound a bit boring but it was really captivating to research (I wrote it last year). I felt that it captured my writing abilities and care for the environment/world very well. I wanted to do something a bit more interesting but I realized I should submit something that captured my writing ability well because that’s one of my favorite things to do.

If you like Vassar and you get that feeling that it’s for you, totally ED to Vassar. They even admit at the information sessions that doing so increases odds by ~20%. It was the first place I toured and I fell in love instantly.

I hope that helps!

Hi I got in too
I am so late for this, where can I chat with you guys?

@niobe4 I’m a male from Long Island, New York. I was accepted with a 1260 SAT, 647 Literature Subject Test and 710 US History test. Extracurriculars included 3 honor societies (National, Spanish, and Social Studies), the fact that I’m a filmmaker as my priority extracurricular on the common app, and that I also play violin in my off time. Applied as a film major with an interest in a political science correlate sequence (I honed in on my interests and how Vassar can help me explore them in the Why Vassar supplement, as well as the fact that I’m open to my interests changing because of what the Vassar curriculum can do for a student). My college essay involved how I can mesh my two main interests of film and politics to solve the problem of ignorance in the world. My unweighted GPA is a 3.84 and I’ve taken a total of 8 AP classes, including the ones I have for my senior year. For my Your Space submission I mentioned my interest in satirical writing and submitted a short satire essay I’ve written. Additionally, in the application portal, I submitted a short film that I produced through only the use of an iPhone camera as a challenge to myself. Hope this all helps!

@niobe4 Oh my bad, I actually have a 4.0 unweighted GPA, I calculated wrong. Had to correct so as to not give out inaccurate info lol

I’m a girl from Southwest Colorado, applied for a Biochemistry major. My SAT was 1450, my unweighted GPA was 3.85 and weighted was 4.12. I didn’t have many extracurricular other than swimming but during the summer I did the Jackson Laboratory Summer Student Program and before that, I did research at UMass Amherst. I also have an internship with Tailwind nutrition and started a nonprofit initiative at my school to replace water fountains. But I was a recruited athlete for swimming so I don’t know how much of a difference that made.
