Possible Geographical (KY?)

PLEASE AND THANK YOU! :)

i'd say you have a decent shot. your gpa is in vassar's range. your act score is good. if it was a point or two higher, then you would have an even better chance.

i wouldn't worry about your course schedule. vassar will receive a school profile with your application, explaining the nature of your school's curriculum. as long as you have taken the most advanced classes possible, you should be fine.

your ECs look good, but they're sorta scattered...vassar may wonder why you didn't stick with soccer, or why you weren't involved with student council before your junior year. the main thing about ECs is to show some kind of extracurricular passion. is it theater? politics? what is it? find out, and emphasize that on your app.

academic awards are always good, and your geographical location is a plus. i applied to vassar early decision last year, but was rejected. i was also from a rare state for vassar (new mexico). my act score was the same as yours, but my gpa was definitely not (around 3.4ish). i did a lot of stuff with art and student government in high school, and my essays were good. i attribute my rejection to my poor gpa.

anyway, good luck!

Hello again... I think I might have chanced you sometime last spring, but I'd be happy to give you my thoughts once more, now that you've entered your senior year.

I would say you look pretty good, overall, and have a definite shot. Your ACT and GPA are both right in the ballpark of where they should be. As watchman mentions, you shouldn't be concerned about your lack of accelerated classes... admissions offices are given information about the nature of your high school, so they'll be aware that Honors/AP/IB wasn't an option for you.

Moving down... I agree, once again, with watchman about your extracurriculars in that they're a bit scattered. This, of course, reflects your changing interests throughout high school; however, be sure to highlight at least one or two extracurriculars of importance to you on your application. Basically, you want your passion for something else besides academics to come through.

Your awards look very solid, and you're right in thinking that coming from Kentucky (and being male) will give you a bit of a boost in the admissions process. I would say that as long as you send in a strong application, you've got a great chance, particularly EDI.

Thank you so much for the replies. Yes, littleatheist, you did chance me in the spring, but I decided to repost with my ending stats. I am feeling very confident about my chances now. I am sending in my application in about 3 weeks. I gave rec sheets to my science and english teachers. I do have a question: Can I request that my manager at my job and others send in recs for me? Also, my father is unemployed. Do you know how Vassar might look at this?

Also, littleatheist, do you think that one way to highlight an extracurricular on my application would be to send in a theater resume with my app?

UM I FORGOT ANOTHER QUESTION. sorry.

I got a 30 comp on my sept act (33e 31m 33r 24s). however, i have heard that vassar superscores the act. my superscored score would be a 32 (35e 34m 33r 27s). therefore, should i send in my three test scores?
