Vassar physics!

How's the physics at vassar, research? Theoretical physics?

it is very bad,
definately dont apply to Vassar if you want to study Physics.

It is true that Vassar is not on Rugg's list of recommended physics programs FWIW.

could you please list down the recommended colleges

Why is it so bad? I read from their site and it says research in physics education? How about relativity and all those stuffs..

On Rugg's list of Recommended Undergraduate Programs, there are about 77 colleges in the Most Selective group alone. I'm not typing them all, but most of the big names are there. Surprisingly absent are Wesleyan U, Vassar, Brown, Williams, Duke, and JHU.

Williams physics is incredibly good..

Wesleyan has a doctoral program in Astrophysics. Not sure who this Ruggs guy is.

vassar is hiring two new physics professors this year, so they're working on building the program. read: it's not very good.

@johnwesley- is it possible to take grad courses at wesleyan?

They are hiring two professors?would it still be a huge risk to read physics at vassar?

Wesleyan is small enough that if you are an exceptional student and the professors realize this from the way you have breezed through their lower level courses -- then, yes, you certainly can enroll in graduate courses. Also, Wesleyan will allow you a tuition free "fifth year" if you want to finish up by earning a masters degree in any of the sciences.

johnwesley- has anyone graduated with a masters in 4 years? With advanced credit and stuffs.. Do wesleyan physics grads get into top grad schools?.. Thanks

^Hmm. You'll get better responses on the Wesleyan board to that question, I think. I reached the limits of my knowledge, here. :p

greennblue, could you post a link to that list. i'm looking for a good physics program and am stumpted. also i am int. student, ny good options for me
also, for 3-2 engineering do the aids get transferred??
thanx

32 you rarely get aid.. It's pretty tough.. Diff unis have diff policies..
Thanks johnwesley..
