Vassar/Tufts

Which would be considered more prestigious? Which has better dorms/campus/social life etc. I can't choose, and it's hard to compare a liberal arts college to a private university.

This seems to be a common theme between Tufts and Vassar. I have posted a response to this before…my son also was accepted at both schools. The two schools are each very prestigious but sooooo different. You just can not compare them. I would say they are equally prestigious but it would be a mistake to let that determine the choice. It really is like comparing apples to oranges with these two schools. You can search older posts to find similar responses to this question. The curriculum (core requirements), greek life, campus setting and student body are very different at these schools. A visit to each will go a long way for you in determining where you fit. My son had at first thought that Tufts would be his first choice, but once accepted found he did not like the school…as such he choose Vassar and LOVES it there. Do some research and you will see what I am referring to and as for prestige, they are equally difficult in terms of acceptance and in name recognition but otherwise not at all similar.

A few years back Tufts did not guarantee housing for all four years. Not sure if that has changed. If this matters to you, you need to check into what it happening currently there. 98% of Vassar students live on campus all four years.
I agree with MandMom - you need to visit to understand the vibe at each school.
